It is been the famous iPod that we have in our hands and we want to enjoy it to the
nth level. Our first reaction is excitement to explore all its functions. Nonstop scrolling will be our
job for the first hours we placed our hands on our iPod. And as we all know, one of its feature is allowing
the users to store music, vast of songs actually and even videos. Then, our first inquiry will be “How
can I download iPod music?”
First, we should take into consideration the software called iTunes that will allow us
to transfer music into our iPod. This program may come with our purchase or it can be downloaded in
www.apple.com. This software will enable us to buy in the renowned iTunes
music service. Specifically, the iTunes library is the one necessary to transfer music from our hard-drives
to our iPod. First, we should transfer all the songs, music, podcasts, etc from different sources to the
iTunes library and from this, we can use the drag-and-drop feature for easy transfer to our iPod.
Once we knew how to transfer music from hard-drives to iPod, our next question will be
“Where can I download music?”
There are different sites like Yahoo Music and iTunes that offer downloading music with
fee per download. The problem with these sites is that the songs are coded with DRM which is the Digital Rights
Management. Once, membership in these sites stopped, the music in our iPod will also stop from playing. Another
site is the eMusic that resolves the problem with the two sites stated above. Songs in eMusic are DRM free and
in MP3 format. They offer monthly subscription resulting to limited number of downloads. The disadvantage in
this site is that it specializes in independent music artists. Therefore, the music here is limited.
However, having an iPod means an airtight relationship with iTunes. iTunes is still
the number one supplier of music to iPod. Here, we can buy music, movies, TV shows and audiobooks. When
we visit Apple’s website, we can click the iPod + iTunes then we will again click the iTunes basic.
We can download the iTunes for free in our computer then we can store music here. There is also the
iTunes store wherein we can shop music online.
You can download iPod music into unit legally or illegally. In US many were
sued for the illegal sharing of music. This against-the-law act is caused by the desire to save spending
more than the amount we spent on buying our iPod. But why put ourselves on the risk of being sued just
because we want to download iPod music at any (free) cost? There is also another way of downloading music
without fear. There are different sites that offer free music and some that to be purchased. So, think
about it.
